Euro 2004 – England V Portugal

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The English fans,
Full of hopes and dreams,
Anxiously wait for news,
About their super team.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Without a twitch,
England qualify for the next round,
Where they will play Portugal,
At Portugal’s home ground.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The night looks strong,
As Owen puts us in front,
It’s made us more eager to win,
So for us, victory is on the hunt.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 At the end of ninety minutes,
The score is neck and neck,
We have to play extra time,
English people are a nervous wreck.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But after thirty minutes,
We’re as equal as before,
So we have to go to penalties,
Can we really take much more?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 First comes Beckham,
A super-hero that’s for sure!
But, sadly he’s let us down
And Portugal have the better score.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Thankfully, the Portuguese miss out on one,
Which puts us back in the game,
Penalty after penalty,
Is it me or is this getting quite lame?

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Oh no, we miss!
Could this be the end?
Silence hit’s the ground,
It’s Portugal’s turn again.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Lucky for them,
their goalie scores,
And knock England out
Of Euro 2004.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Everyone’s sad,
Tear’s fill up our eyes.
England have lost.
But then again, is that a surprise?

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 So instead of getting angry,
We simply look ahead,
To the World Cup 2006,
When the madness starts again..
