Desolate Dan

I think that poor Dan Lewis
Must have gone to Heaven
Still haunted by that day in May
Of 1927,
When the football squirmed beneath his grasp,
Rolled across the line..
And the Gunners could not equalise
Before the Ref blew for full-time…
So Cardiff City won the Cup,
But to the fans in blue
It was poetic justice,
‘Cause Dan was a Welshman too…
