He’s a modern day Icarus
He’s flying closer and closer to the promised land
Let’s not worry about all the money that’s being thrown,
Let’s listen to the ambitious words that come from his mouth,
Let’s not think of precedences and only of pretences.

We love you chairman
You take us where we belong
Though we’ll all turn on you when it goes wrong.

Let’s think of trophies and carved out cult heroes
Let’s not think of bills and red letters through the door,
Let’s think of parties and dancing on the pitch
Let’s not think of how we tell the cleaner that she’s sacked.

We love you chairman
Because you’re one of us
But if things go wrong then you bet we’ll cause a fuss.

He’s soaring into the sky
And we all watch with glee
Let’s think about trips to famous stadia
Let’s not think about tears on the last day
Let’s think about internationals coming to play
Let’s not think about the boardroom falling apart.

We love you chairman
You’re going crazy
Just like the rest of us.
