In The Town

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I walked along the quiet street
While the sun began to droop
On the pavement just my feet
Beside the hills that stoop.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Open were the restaurants
But on a Tuesday night
Few decide to take a jaunt
They’d enjoy it if they might.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I carried on up til the park
Pockets of people lay
Basking in an idle lark
As night sprung up from day.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 I checked until the time came
Then headed for the ground
To anticipate the game
To fill the vacant sound.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 All around the pitch and stands
The people of the town
Out in force with clapping hands
And cheers that will not drown.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Teenagers, adults, children
Fervour like floodlights shine
And as a stranger in their den
Wonder and faith combine.
