It’s not just the players getting fit for a new campaign that’s nearly here, many supporters are also in training ready for all those pies and beer. They’ll be having pre – season sessions exercising to get legs sturdy and strong, for all the walking up and down concrete steps and standing at bars as […]
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto is a new signing to Coventry City he has come, the clubs first ever japanese player from the land of the rising sun. I’ve watched him in action on YouTube and he does look quality and class, he can play in numerous positions and can shoot, cross, and pass. He also likes to […]
Coventry City fans in their thousands walking proudly down Wembley Way, the atmosphere is electric on this a boiling hot day. The Sky Blues flags flying high noise and excitement building up, I’m feeling positive like back in 87 when we went and won the FACup. But the City have started very slow first half […]
The Sky Blues are in the play offs up against Middlesbrough on Sunday, the CBS Arena will be rocking can the City go all the way ? Coventry City have hit good form lively up front, solid at the back, Hamer is class in the midfield and Gyokeres is dangerous on the attack. Ben Wilson […]
Nerves all jittery and fraught fingernails chewed to the quick, this is the lot of the football fan end of the season and feeling sick. One minute you’re staying up the next on the way down, that big smile on your face replaced by a miserable frown. No time for a sun drenched vacation gardening, […]

Hi Denys
With you all the way on the abolition of FA Cup replays. What are they doing to the game?

Hi Joe
Shouldn’t your title read your poem Farewell Europe England to everyone exccept Aston Villa ?
I know you mention them in your poem , but I do feel sorry for Villa re the national press .
Largely ignored. the hype was was all about Man City & Arsenal with a bit of a nod to the Hammers..but hardly a mention of Villa..
So well done to them

Hi Crispin. Chris Sutton on the radio has gone for a Chelsea v Coventry final. As we know anything can happen in the Cup, and I reckon we can go to the final.
We’re still in with a chance of the play offs too, so lots to go for.

Hey Kev
Let the masses drool over their odds on City v Unted Final, but who knows how pressure can hit.
Cov and Chels will be rightly labelled as having no chance..but hey …stranger things have happened..
so Chelsea v Coventry…that’s the Final for us!

Hi Crispin,
How are you doing mate? Yes, you’re probably right but hey football is all about emotion and passion and I just love writing about the game. I try to keep my poetry to a reasonable length but there’s so much to write about the game and its literature just lends itself naturally to poetry. Sometimes I just get completely carried and I do apologise for the length of my poetry but it’s a great thrill to be associated with Football Poets.
Cheers mate

Btw …is this actually your longest poem ever !?

There’s something so evocative and nostalgic for football fans the world over, in ‘revisiting’ old lost grounds.
Occasionally some remnants remain, with perhaps part of a wall or part or a stand or thre shape of a terrace, but often they are only still there in faded images and in our heads..
Great stuff Graham
