About

Nicholas Finch is a writer, teacher, hobbling footballer and a West Ham United supporter. Finch played youth football in England and South Africa before moving to Florida. Whilst studying creative writing at the University of Tampa, Finch continued to play club football at various competitive levels. After numerous injuries stunted Nicholas Finch’s footballing aspirations, he turned his full attention to writing and teaching, going on to study literature as a part of the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Writers and Saint Leo University. Now a teacher, Finch still kicks a ball about wherever and whenever he can. His footballing influences include Joe Cole, Paulo Di Canio, Carlos Tevez, Zinedine Zidane and Mark Noble. His literary influences include James Salter, David Shields, Jean Rhys, Ernest Hemingway, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Brett Easton Ellis. His work has been published in Florida ReviewFlash: The International Short-Short Story MagazineAvis MagazineFields and elsewhere. Failbetter will be publishing Finch’s first novella, Lunsford’s Boy, in the Spring.
