Just A Moment ( In The Time Of The Season)
so how did it go this season
how did it happen for you
all of those hopes and euphoria
what were the things that came through?
did you go higher and higher?
or was it a case of exist
all of those moments wasted and gone
all of those chances you missed
or did you dive down to the depths of it all
down to the end of the line
was it down to the wire – in the thick of the fire
did it pass like a moment in time?
and what were the lessons of learning
when was the moment you knew
when did the dream for your own little team
turn into a nightmare for you?
and what was the greatest of moments
was it Beckham’s free kick against Greece
I was there in a bar on a sweet Greek isle
you could float on the air of release
was it Zola’s back-flick against Norwich
or Arsenal’s great night at Man U
or was it that cooll celebrations
the way only Cameroon do?
but everything’s only a moment
what was it Brian Clough said
“it takes just a second to score a goal”
the next one’s the ball’s in the net
a moment and seasons are over
a moment and all of it gone
no time for why – or how it l flew by
but moments like these they go on
and all of it just in a moment
it never makes sense but it’s true
and time just stands still in those moments
so how did they happen for you?
—————————————————————
so what was your moment…just a moment…
ponder contemplate and discuss..fellow comrades
one world ..one game… one moment.. one goal..
these are mine..and yours?
hear me now…westside..

Very accurate indeed!
Palace home for me is always a tough journey as well. From the wilds of west London to Selhurst is a random journey into the unknown.

Lovely stuff for one of the best.
We love him to death down at the Palace.
I’ll post my Roy poem a bit later. You’ve inspired me to finish it.

I’d like to think some of my scarves might get passed down the generations, but can’t see some of the “quality merchandise” I have making much past my son’s generation. They’ll fall apart before he even has kids, I reckon!

Play Up Pompey indeed Richard .
My first ever proper game when i was 10 was Chelsea 7-4 Pompey on Xmas morning 1959, Greavesie got 4.
First visited Fratton Park with Chelsea (2-2) and stood among loads of sailors back in the old Second Dvision early 60s . That’s when I first heard the Pompey Chimes..
Last visited in the mid 2000s to run a football poetry workshop on racism with local young students in the Study Centre you had then at the time.
Had a great chat with some of your fans when you came here to Forest Green last season…
best wishes
