Too much Irish influence?

In reply to somebody posting as Wee Willy, who wrote ;

Do ye have to be Irish/and or a celtic fan to be on this site????

From the submissions this week, it would appear so, wouldn’t it?

Not so.

Yes, there has been a lot of Irish influenced poems or poets posting lately.
However, we don’t pre-determine or dictate the content, topics, or issues.

This site is a repository for all fans of football, everywhere (and we’re talking global),
to post up their poetic efforts.

Certainly there is no doubting the Irish fanatacism for football (be it
Gaelic Football, Rugby football or Soccer). Aligned with their strong literary influence,
is it any wonder we see so many of the diaspora (always wanted to use that word!)
posting here.

But I emphasise again, this site is for everyone everywhere.
Just look at the contributions from the schools and workshop ventures, to see the talent from
all sorts of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

We’re also very proud of the fact that we have contributions from every continent on the planet.
(Unless you count the two Poles – perhaps we could get Dudek and Tomacewski to send in theirs? Doh!)

😉

Also, please direct all non-poem retorts / musings / messages via e-mail to editors@footballpoets.org rather than
using the submissions screen.

Any relevant messages will be forwarded on, if we have valid e-mail addresses,
or aired on the Home page in this section here.

Thank you.
