#9 Lennon

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “Johnny Rhythm” his fans would roar him on
Any stadium he would fill
Those cathedrals rocked to the rooftops
Sublime moments of genius
That hung long in the air
Like chords of chiselled notes
“We love you yeah yeah yeah!” they chanted
And kids would practise
‘Til their cuban heeled boots shredded
Fell to pieces trying to copy him
“Where did he play football as a child?”
They all wanted to know
“Strawberry Fields” said his manager
“Just down the road from Penny Lane”.

Notes

RIP John, a light went out that awful day 9th December 1980, but you shine on.
