1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Football, the sport, can be pretty conventional,
Tactics and skill and a lot of baloney.
The game and the players are all three-dimensional,
And a game from the stands is worth two on the Sony.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 There’s much more to see when you’re actually present,
The noise and the smells always make it a fun gig,
An hour and a half, both exciting and pleasant –
A match in the flesh is worth two on the Grundig.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A televised game maybe gives you a flavour,
But where is the gin to put into your tonic?
The buzz of the crowd’s really something to savour –
A live game’s worth two on a new Panasonic.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 What I’m trying to say, through much imprecise phrasing,
Is that televised football won’t give you that rush.
A game under lights can be truly amazing –
A match viewed first hand is worth two on the Bush.
