A Celtic Poem

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I’ll tell you a story
Of Green White and Glory
Of times I’ll remember when old
Of heroes in green
And their valiant team
And Martin their leader so bold

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 I’ll tell you of when
Again and again
We marched out to battle and won
We sang to the end
And returned with more friends
And enjoyed our sweet times in the sun

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And though we might lose
We’ll have given our all
For the cause that dear Walfrid laid down
And we honour him now
When our Bhoys take their bow
And are given the League and Cup crown

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 When the thunder rolls stark
From the slopes of our Park
And we show why we’re Tims through and through
We stand by our team
They are living our dream
We are chosen and we are not few

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But the day must draw near
The day some of us fear
As death calls a Pilgrim for home
As we walk to the gate
The Devil shouts ‘Wait!
I will claim them as one of my own’

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 But Saint Peter looks down
With a trace of a frown
And urges Old Nick to be fair
‘The rules are in place
Which a pilgrim must face
This traveller is not for your lair.’

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Beelzebub knew
That the red white and blue
Were destined for only his troops
But the pilgrim whose home
Was ‘neath Heaven’s white dome
Would be wearing God’s favourite hoops

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 For those Tims on earth
Who suffer foul mirth
It is only for seconds: all told
For eternity long
In Heaven’s bright throng
We will honour the green white and gold.
