A Football Fan

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Football haters can’t work us out,
why we go season after season
to watch a very average team.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Behind our backs they talk,
sniggering as if we’re a bit simple
never understanding our passion.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I used to go to the games, but you
know, other commitments. Good,
we don’t need your support.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The flu won’t stop you going, neither
will a leg in plaster, you’ll pay back the
money you borrowed next week.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Nothing can stop a true fan, they
are a breed apart, unique, just
being there is the reward.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 It’s as if you’ve made a secret pact,
if you leave there’s no coming back,
your in it for the whole of your life.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 At times you wonder why you do it ?
Maybe some therapy is needed here ?
Off to football rehab, I say, NO NO NO !

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Anyway, you’d miss the matches,
so what’s the point in that ?
No, just face the facts, you’re an addict !

Notes

As I was writing this, it made me realise that being a football fan, is a commitment, you’re in a relationship with your team, one team, for life if you’re a true fan, and it made me think, it’s like a marriage ! Heavy stuff !
