a game with no gloves

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 a keeper’s gloves
are the last piece
of the jigsaw
to their success

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 without these gloves
a game falls apart
palms stinging, the ball slipping
into the back of the net

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 the team drooping
the crowd jeering
the keeper hanging his head
in shame

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 maybe if he thought
not forgotten those gloves
the score might’ve been different
it might’ve spared them a loss

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 so let the morale
of this story be
a game with no gloves
can end up disastrous

Notes

i know myself how hard it is to play without gloves, especially when it’s raining. my catching being unpredictable at the best of times (that’s why i prefer to stay up front) gloves seemed to make it better, the grip really helped me for a while anyway.
but as i’ve come to realise, the goalmouth is not the place for me.
