A Green Cup Final On Real Grass Man!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Take me to the Millenium
Cos I am so well red
Don’t let the grass have a hint of the sun
So it will sadly just drop dead!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Expose it to all the elements
The wind and the sun and the rain
With all this under soil heating
It feels like a beach in Spain!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Open the roof
Don’t be uncouth
If it rains lets play in the mud
The beautiful game
Is famous in name
For pitches
Made purely from cud!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 ManYoo and Gooners
Are so used to a field
That is covered in acres of green
An indoor cup final so snug and so warm
Is bordering on the obscene!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Do a slide tackle
Look at yer shorts
They are not covered in green
A touch of the velcro some nylon and paint
Is a mixture of something surreal!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Let Gooners get wet
They deserve all they get
ManYoo are so used to the rain at home!
Let cup final be on soil that was honestly toiled
Was planted and naturally grown!

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 peace.

Notes

Open and shut roofs over pitches is not what its all about surely? On Hackney Marshes in London’s East End loads of teams play whatever the weather Saturday and Sunday mornings come rain or shine. Will we get ourselves into a situation of ‘ the pitch temperature is not right for football at this time of year so the game will not be played’? Kids must learn to enjoy being out in all weathers if they are to be dragged away from play stations and obesity? I don’t wanna sound like an oldie but… in my day if for whatever reason the pitch was unplayable, the sports master just sent us on a cross country run around all the playing fields for two hours beside the Thames at Putney! Just a thought.

peace.
