A Lauded and Unpaid Fifth Official.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Twas like snowballs in Hellas
Three-o-clock on a Saturday
Rarities only known to the few
Two right at it young fella’s
Well committed to the tackle
From Liverpool and their visitors Man U.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 After watching it a few times
No way was it a red
Though competitive it was there’s no doubt
Whilst The Govan Knight on the touch line
Stood shaking his head
Shouldn’t even have opened his mouth.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 In a game where there’s tension and passion
Of course tackles will fly in
When the ball’s there to be won
It’s a part of the action
Us die hard purists are missing
Whilst softies pull sickies for months.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The lauded unpaid fifth official
With plenty to say
Got a shock
When Jonjo en route after his dismissal
Gave a right royal wave
Whilst inferring The Govan Knight shut his gob!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 I’ve often pondered this
In moments and wonder
When The Govan Knight opens his big trap
If an Harry Cripps or Peter Storey*
Blazed past his dug out, in a mist of red thunder
Would The Govan Knight have given them his old chat?

Notes

The Jonjo Shelvey tackle didn’t and still doesn’t look that bad to me, but what do I know? What I do know is that Ferguson has far too much to say for himself. It’s about time some young turk told him to button his lip!

*Harry Cripps, Millwall legend and articulate artisan defender of the old school, and Peter Storey of The Arsenal, from the very same academy.

Go well and be lucky.

Carefree.

Peace.

Kev.
