A Liverpool Past

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Gone now the legends
I grew up adoring
The red shirted heroes
Who captured my heart
And its not for the trophies or glories
That came down like rainfall
But the passion the faith
And we all shared a part
As a kid watching Shankly
Deliver his sermons
His apostles would gather
11 men strong
The words of his wisdom
Rang out to the terrace
And the Kopites well versed
Answered in song
We’d sway with the rhythm
An ocean of Redmen
A sea pulsed with Toshack
And Keegan upstream
And there like a salmon
Would rise up Big Clemence
Saving like Jesus
And living the dream.
