A Mass of Mascots

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Well we’ve had some dreamers
And seen some screamers
(though not too many of late)
But tonight a new face will be unveiled
At Carrow Road with capacity gate

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We’ve all heard the rumours
Speculation and murmurs
(gossip spreads faster than ‘flu)
We greet our arrival as our season derails
Well I don’t believe it, do you?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Let’s hear it for – “Aviva the Lemur”
New mascot to join our support team-ers
(he has big shiny green boots)
With a stonking great big stripey tail
And he eats mammals, insects and fruit

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 What’s that you say? Lemur!
From Fame Academy? No, that was Lemar
(we’re cutting edge round here)
We get our players from bargain rails
But mascots are far from rare

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We’ve got a Canary, a Cat, and now a Lemur
admittedly better than a striker with a broken femur
(With no offence to our furry friends)
But we’d rather have goals! – points! – signings!
Once again the gloom descends

Notes

With nearly as many mascots as first team players, things are looking real good here at Norwich City. Obviously our new sponsors want return for their investment but I somehow don’t see this quelling the current disquiet among fans. There’s talk about a ‘demonstration’ before tonights match against Palace. But that could turn out to be Delia with a new range of frying pans.

Anyway, what’s the betting that Aviva the Beaver didn’t make the shortlist?

Mascots –
a bit of fun?
an embarrassment?
good for fake furry head manufacturers?
