A Match Made in …………………..Sunderland

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The cold wind of change
blows through Wearside
to announce Keane’s arrival.
“Doubtful” chairman Quinn
hastily bolts a large slice
of humble pie (Irish) as
former Man U hatchet man
signs on the dotted line:
three year contract worth
a cool six million.
Guess whose Irish eyes
are smiling now?
Sunderland players, recalling
Keane’s vice-like grip
when shaking hands with
their new gaffer,
up their performance level
to gain their first win.
Terror in their eyes as
they look forward to
Keane’s first training session
matched by the fear
of the prawn sandwich brigade
in the Stadium of Light stands.
Infamous row with McCarthy
forgotten, though hungry Keane
likes to dine, alone, on wolf meat.

Notes

I’ll be keeping an eye on events in Sunderland. As a famous commentator once remarked: “very interesting!”
