A Quiet Start

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Optimism, bookies favourites
Thrashed 7-1, left in bits
Freak result, laughing stock
Only ninety minutes on the clock

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Cup game, comfortable four-nil win
The second round and we’re in it still
Saturdays result was just a blip
Season starts here, let’s get a grip

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The day before the second league game
Gunn took the bullet and the blame
He’d spent the summer building a squad
Now he’s sacked, it’s more than odd

Notes

After relegation to League One, NCFC spent the summer rebuilding bridges with fans. Unbeaten in pre-season, Bryan Gunn signed twelve new players and capacity crowds were lined up for Carrow Road; I was anticipating a good season. A week in and it’s disbelief, anger, bewilderment. Lost 7-1, won 4-0, lost 1 manager.
All that surprises me is that I can still be surprised by what happens at our club, the home of conspiracy theories. What next? I dread to think.
