Gutted team mates look on in envy
As our one World class player, in the last two decades
Sets a deuce up, just like last week…. at Wemberly

“To much focus on one man, not the team”
By chav heir apparent’s enviously green
Without his quality, World class, high esteem

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The team, at last, had some shape, as a man with no pace
Slung in dangerous crosses at will
To an impotent strike force, prior to this game
Who were barren of excitement or thrills

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Chances were created, taken and missed
Three goals were eventually scored
Chances that lately, in games such as this
Had gone AWOL, leaving England fans bored

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 As tired legs went and he walked to the bench
The result, now a foregone conclusion
How sweet was the moment as he passed by the men
Who had planned his farewell by exclusion?

Gracious, polite, smiling and cool
When to gloat and wallow in “It’s about me, not the team”
Would lack class and be easy to do?

Show his team-mates…. he’s a Real high class act?

What can you say about David Beckham? Except maybe, just maybe, we need him, more than the manager cares to realize?

In that wide position, he could, as some of the pundits suggest, go on for a good few years yet?
