2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 When a team is rough
a team is tough
when the team does all they can
in order to win.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Shots from all angles
Deflected by defenders.
Or if they aren’t aware,
Strikers acting as menders.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A score never matters,

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When your opponents aren’t fair
Pushing and shoving
Unseen by the ref
Or else totally ignored.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Strikes from all angles
Hitting our team.
Players hitting the floor
More than once, out of steam.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 When you have had fun
And your team has played well.
You can laugh at any blunder,
Smile along if you fell.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 You can lose by a landslide,
Your confidence in tatters.
But don’t be down. If you enjoyed,
A score never matters.

Notes

Basically, the morale of the poem being – no matter what the score is, if you have a good game and you really enjoy yourself, there’s no need to worry about what got let in, what you missed, who did what.

The game I played tonight was against a tough team who played well, but not always fairly. They’re older and slightly better built than us, and I fell over twice (hence the falling part in the poem) and even though we lost 3-0, our whole team was really good, there were some decent strikes made by our players which unluckily didn’t go in, and our keeper as per usual pulled off some impressive saves.

Now I thought everyone was great, but her being one of my best mates, I have to say I am so proud of her!
