A Shallow Victory Or What?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Like a race where they bet bar the favourite
On who’ll finish second or third?
Has The Premiership fallen into the abyss?
Where titles are purchased not earned?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 “Competition is healthy,” they told us in school
“They’re only eleven small blokes”
Yet Man City, Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool
We’re chasing fourth place a fair while ago.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 I’d liken being top to “The Football” in Scotland
Where the same duo win all the pots
So I’m sorry to say I hope Tottenham
Make sure this season’s finale hots’ up.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Fourth place has grabbed all the headlines
Would you be proud of your team coming fourth?
I’m worried in truth at the slow but steady decline
Where winning “Title” means nothing at all.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Could an also ran fan lose his/her faith at The Sham
That our football has slowly become?
Or as long as we’re winning will we carry on singing
Coz our chairman’s loaded with money?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 He’s a Chelski fan?
Tell him to shut up
A hypocrite springs to the mind
Oh no I’m not, I’m a fan of a game,
Where a team doing “The Double”
Was an honour in not long ago times!

Notes

As we’re presently sitting on top of the Premier league, with a fair chance of being crowned champions and doing “The Double”, this poem may sound a bit off and like taking The Michael, but this is how it looks to me as a paying punter, but then hey, what do I know?

Peace

Kev
