A Tough Place To Be

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Newcastle United are already the favourites
For a quick return to the top flight
Is it because of the clubs great tradition
And the support from those fans in the black and white ?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But a big reputation counts for nothing
Because the Championship is a tough place to be
You just ask us fans of Coventry, and those of
Southampton, Charlton, and Norwich City.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And just take a look at Leeds United
What a massive fall from grace
Not even the Championship for them
Just another league one season to face.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And what about the Baggies of West Brom ?
They don’t know where they want to be
No wonder their fans go boing boing
Their team bounce up and down like Zebedee !

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The Championship is a really good leveller
Because you have to battle all of the way
You can be top or at the bottom
But it’s who wants it most on the day.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 So I’m eagerly looking forward to next season
No doubt another tough campaign it’ll be
I just hope the bookies have got it all wrong
And Newcastle won’t be champs, but it’ll be Coventry !

Notes

Poor old Newcastle, they have only just been relegated, and already the bookies make them favourites to go straight back up, pressure or what ? No wonder they keep on looking for a messiah !
