how deep into the heartland
of Europe still they strike
those Vikings brave who rode the tide
with many gods upon their side
who fought against the Alfreds
the Zolas and their like

some solace to reflect upon
with Chelsea fans today
who see it in the game of life
who cannot dwell and only strive
to keep this faith and hope alive
the cosmic karmic way

and we will rise to look beyond
this continental frame
the way that artists have to do
the poets and the writers too
who carry on and will pull through
to see the bigger game

thank god we cry that we are ‘out’
and open as the sea
and we’ll not weep as losers do
for premier dreams are strong and true
