A Walk in the Park for Derek Parkin

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 “Talk about time”
Time on the ball I’ve heard said
High, he held his blond-haired head
Not remembered for kicking and racing
Headless chicken a chasing

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Cultured, a description, could be
Comparing today, he would be
Selected, no leaving him out
‘Squeak’ I still hear the shout!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 “Talk about style”
His style you could see from a mile
Parkin looked a good pro
A ‘reet’ good pro as far as good pro’s go

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A walk in the park
Full-back, he could play it in the dark
A walk in the park for Derek Parkin
Number two or three
‘Parkin for England’ said the graffiti

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 “Talk about reminiscing”
Reminiscing, is there anything missing
Attack or in retreat
‘Squeak’ so difficult to beat
He served up his usual treat did Derek Parkin

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Purchased from Huddersfield for eighty grand
And Wolves supporters all over this land
Knew a great piece of business was done
Golden performances in rain, hail or sun

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 “Yes, I’m talking about Parkin”
Derek Parkin, born Newcastle upon Tyne
Record appearances, six hundred and nine
Near on fourteen seasons he served
Wolves Hall of Fame, well deserved!
