1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 A week ago and life was good,
The Cup was for the taking.
Eternal hope is in our blood,
A folly of our making.
But Sligo dashed the Cup away
As we prepared to raise it.
The memory is there to stay
And we cannot erase it.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A week ago and life was great,
A Euro triumph beckoned,
We would seal the Slovenes fate
And score both first and second.
The passport though stays in the drawer,
For now we will not need it.
They warned us of the final score,
But no, we did not heed it.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A week ago and life was grand,
We proudly led the table.
Apart from which, we’d games in hand,
We seemed quite uncatch-able.
But now the table has been turned,
And Pats are there to taunt us.
All those easy chances spurned
Have now come back to haunt us

Notes

Woe, woe, all is woe.
