Tears from the ups
Tears from the downs
Old contracts reworked
New contracts still printer warm.

Club budgets
Looked at in a new light.
Those to go,

Empty stands
Carry the echoes of the season.
Ghosts of games past
Linger like early autumn mist.

The league struggle,
The Cup games,
Now nothing

It has the summer to itself.
Just it and the groundsman,
At one with each other.

The new boys
Get their Stadia hard wired
For the box in the corner.

After the dust has settled,
Life begins anew
As clubs adjust
To their altered state.
