All Fired Up.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We rushed expectant home by bus,
Taxicab or train
The London rush hour mayhem thus
Allowed thoughts on the game.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Surely this would be the night?
When dreams were realized
“God Save The Queen” be sung with pride
Whilst fish’n’chip shops thrived.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Algeria would capitulate
Then we’d move to win the group
Four points on board would deem us great
Yeah four points ought to do it.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We scanned “The Evening Standard”
For their view on who should play?
Then aimed a question toward the manager:
“Excuse me Mr.Capello, when’s Joey gonna start a game?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Player plus and minus’s
Caused mayhem in our minds
As we wondered what the night would bring
When we watched proceedings live?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Sat back snugly on the sofa
Our day dilemma’s soon forgot
We mulled the team selections over
Then looked repeatedly at the clock.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 This year was gonna be our year
Our high time long over-due
Then once gain we said ‘hello’ to fear
When the starting whistle blew!

Notes

England’s team seem very keen to keep us in suspense, until the next and final group game, nothing new there then?

Peace.

Kev.
