All Over Already?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Wenger’s face gets longer,
shrug even more Gallic
as realisation dawns that his
Gunners ain’t gonna win
anything…..again.
Current crop of players
not fit to lace the boots
of Arsenal teams of yesteryear:
Seaman solid between the sticks;
Adams a rock in defence;
Viera striding through midfield;
searing pace of Overmars;
trickery of Bergkamp;
sheer artistry of Henry.
Only Wilshere comes close.
Fans clutching banners advising
Arsene to spend spend spend!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 What a contrast at Chelsea:
return of the artist formerly
known as the Special One,
now dubbed Mr Happy.
Welcomed back with open arms
by Stamford Bridge faithful
cheering his every move:
his effusive waves and
fist pumping celebrations.
Emirates even more like a
library than Highbury;
the Bridge vibrant, expectant.
Arsenal also rans,
Chelsea champions elect?

Notes

Wenger’s days, I fear, are numbered whereas Mourinho’s return to Chelsea was pure theatre. What a contrast!
