(Almost) Top Rivals

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Prolonged hostilities
Silverware non-entities
The Old Farm Derby a non-event
Except to the carrot crunchers who went
Recognised only for our bitter feud
Don’t communicate unless it’s rude
Tribal rivalry
Naked hatred
No imagination, low intelligence
Know nothing of ambition
Or nutrition
And that’s just us
Somewhere in East Angular
Somewhere near Mongolia
No-one knows precisely where
And they don’t care

Notes

Surprisingly, Ipswich-Norwich came second in a recent survey concerning the strongest football rivalries in England. We’re not from the same city or even county and for the 363 non-derby days of the year we act like we’ve never even heard of each other.

Norwich is a City
Ipswich is a Town
Our concern is only
That we stay up and they go down(!)
