Raising his arms to the sky
George Best lobbed over to Charlton
Charltons left boot let one fly

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The ball zoomed passed Ray Clements left ear
At three times the speed of a jet
The poor goalie stood there dejected
Then picked up the ball from the net

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Alas Murphys moment of joy was soon over
And his heroic praises did stop
For, apart fromsix thousand scousers
He was standing alone in the kop

So he dashed out the kop in a scurry
With twelve thousand fists waved at him

“I’ll be lucky if I walk again”

Murphy ran like a greyhound down Breck Road
Setting off at a hell of a pace

Going like SOOT off a shovel
He thought his poor lungs would explode

With the kopites trying to gain ground
Puzzled shoppers outside T J Hughes

Down Dale Street in two minutes dead
Weaving through cars on the Dock Road
He found himself at the Pier Head
