An Observation Made From Me Seat.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There’s this bloke and his bird who sit near me
Every home game they’re sat there
He can at times get quite emotionally weary
And his Richard? She don’t really care.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 They talk to each other pre kick off
Then cease as the two teams run out
Then she gets wired up to her I-Pod
While he sings with the home fans out loud.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Her eyes shut, she rock and rolls gently
To the tunes that caress her slight lugs
While he looks like he’s losing it mentally
At some of the rubbish that we see at our club.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 She nips out for coffee at half time
While he applauds some old ageing star
Then she returns to her radio’s life line
As he stands up waving his scarve.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 When proceeding have ended she’s looking refreshed
Cool and well chilled out by her tunes
And her man who has just seen his idols play as bad as it gets
The journey home won’t come a minute too soon

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 What do they talk of on the way back home?
“Did you catch that last fabulous save?
What about that cool trick our winger just did”.
“Sorry babe but I was tuned into family favourites”

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 “Did you see the ref miss a certain offside goal
And that corner he gave was a joke”.
“I’m sorry babe, I can’t lie, but for the last forty five
I was tuned into Paul Gambuccini’s American chart show!”.

Notes

This couple do sit near me, and she does tune in, shut her eyes and ears to whats happening out on the pitch, whilst the match is on.

The rest of the poem is the fruit of a very fertile imagination with a bit of cockney slang thrown in!

A Richard is Richard the third meaning….bird which is slang for someone’s girl -friend.

Lugs is short for lug holes which are your…. ears.

peace

kev.
