An Old Haunt Revisited

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We viewed this place with puzzled eyes,
A half-remembered happy place,
Where once we’d uttered joyful cries,
With outstretched arms and upturned face.
It seemed so long, so long ago,
When dancing on this sacred plot,
Yet still the embers were aglow
Upon this secret, holy spot.
For here, where angels hummed their tunes
And lazed around immersed in dreams,
We passed those sunny afternoons,
Supine beside the chattering streams.
Where days were long and birds were known
To swoop all day without fatigue.
And now, we have returned alone,
Back to the top of the Eircom League
