An Ulterior Motive…Maybe?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As an insane kamikaze tackle
Provoked expletives in the Northern sky
We’re reduced to ten, our backs to the wall
Whilst our skipper jets off to Dubai.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 West Brom at home, Fulham away
Then Southend in the cup
A three match ban, and a well earned break (sic)
Where he’ll really live it up.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 No crunching tackles, mad penalty shouts
Or eighteen yard box mayhem
Just a deckchair, X Box, and twenty snout
With the wife and kids beside him!

Notes

This poem is somewhat tongue in cheek. When John Terry saw red up at Goodison last night, attached to an automatic three match ban, and quite rightly so. I was reminded of a blinding football programme that Danny Baker used to host on Beeb radio, where Baker cheekily without mentioning anyone’s name went on to say that he personally knew of an England defender, playing in London, who boasted that he’d never missed a Christmas at home with his family, since his career began. Through suspension, injury or what have you. As soon as the Christmas holiday’s came round every year, this bloke was off…..home!
