Anfield (yesterday and today)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The songs of the Kop still ring through my ears
On a journey back home to my heart
And the rain coats my skin with the kisses I know
‘Til I’m drenched and am no longer parched
The ghosts of my yesterdays meet at the ground
As we chat oh the years fall away
Our memories collect in the harbour of time
As we peel off the dust and decay
Seven years old and I walk with me Dad
Running to keep up with his steps
We squeeze through the turnstile as Bill Shankly smiles
“If it’s football you want we’ve the best!”

Notes

Parry Maguire (2004)

“When the river is flowing downwards, then you must swim against the tide. When it’s flowing upwards, you must paddle stronger in the opposite direction.” Rafa Benitez
