It used to be called a tracksuit top
Now it accompanies anthem pop

With tackles to carve out and goals to poach
The teams line up as they wait to kick off
They holler a tune with a hum and a cough

With fans faces like Hallowe’en lanterns
Scared of the result, a trick or a treat?
But England are singing from the same hymn sheet

Notes

I’d never heard of an Anthem Jacket before today. A jacket to be worn while singing the anthem. I’d heard of Kenny Jacket, but this…Merciless merchandising and marketing people working hard to wring a few more quid from fans keen to have the latest bit of kit.
“Look smart on and off the pitch” Yes really.

Good to see the England team singing the National Anthem, especially in the Diamond Jubilee year.

The official England Euro 2012 song is Sing 4 England by Chris Kamara – track it down if you haven’t yet heard it – worth a listen while England fans are feeling upbeat…
