As Jair glides

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 As Jair glides
Caught on the pitch of infinite spaces
The moments pass like pearls flashing
Language scours the stars’ brightness
Gives names to the beauty
Pele, Carlos Alberto, Jairzinho, Tostão, Gérson
Priceless precious ghosts immortal
This gift to life of football
“The English invented it, the Brazilians perfected it”
Thus Jair slides through my nets
Silver shining set in diamonds
And his hands lift me to the sun.

Notes
