At Hillsborough ninety six people lost their lives

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I will never forget that day
it was supposed to be normal in every way
working on a Saturday doin` some overtime
thinkin` about the game all morning in my mind
couldn`t wait for the clock to turn three
so my boss kept telling me.
listening to the build up on the radio
the time seemed to drag on so slow
i remember a news flash
at first it was just a scuffle in the crowd
too many people i thought they`ll calm down
then the guy on the radio mentioned a crush
people were screaming `cos they were dying, getting crushed
it happened not long before the game should have got played
instead on the pitch many bodies were getting laid

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 it was terrible ,a catastrophe , that needn`t be
why did it happen, why did it frighten` me
standing on top of a shop roof
i was shocked and i could not move
couldn`t believe that people died the way they died
when i saw the pictures in the paper`s i cried

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 everybody in Liverpool knew someone who had died
millions of tears around the city flowing as people cried
we were shocked but somehow we were ashamed
because it should never have happened and who was to blame
as the crowd surged forward to get into the ground
people were trapped against a fence and on the ground
faces begging for mercy you could see the fear in their eyes
i remember i was shocked to see police officer`s cry

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 at Hillsborough ninety six people lost their life
a father left in the morning , said goodbye to his wife
stopped off at the swimming pool to pick up his nephew
promised him a ticket
told him he would see what he could do
happy as can be they headed for Sheffield along the motorway
little did they know that one of them wouldn`t be going home that day

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Jon Paul was the youngest of the victims to lose his life
his Mum didn`t know till way after five
was put at the front to get a better view
was one of the first to suffer he had no chance of getting through
it was a sad story `cos he didn`t have a chance
when i found out about him it was like,i was in a trance
i used to know Jon Paul he was one of the neighbour`s kid`s
family and friends rallied round to make sure they were OK
God forbid

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 in memory of Hillsborough to the ninety six who died that fatal day
the flame at the memorial at Anfield will glow for you everyday
it was very sad and the feelings are here to stay
and the memory of you people in our mind`s will never go away..
