Backpass

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 M orose manner and maudlin interviews
A fter every single match.
U tterly wretched performances from men in
R ed who are scared of their own shadows;
I tching to get rid of the ball quickly thus
C onceding possession and territory.
E very team at the CG look like world beaters.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 M inging tactics from a man out of his depth
A nd clinging onto his job by his fingernails.
L oathed, not loved by a large section of support;
P illoried and chastised, castigated, criticised.
A nxiously waiting to see if he will be
S acked by bewilderingly patient board.

Notes

The Swindon Town manager, labelled Maurice Backpass, amongst other things, by his critics ain’t got it nor will he ever have it. 5 home defeats on the trot tells its own story, but the board of STFC seem to be sticking with him. Ian Holloway anyone?
Crispin/Editor Note : I’d personally love to see Ian at ST…am sure our football poet /Town loving Stuart Butler would too..heard many a great interview with him recently.(Ian that is bot Stu!)..salt of the earth , says it like it is ..and he moved mountains at Plymouth only to then struggle at Leicester but ..oh the passion!
