Ballad of the Liverpool Fan

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 No man alone if he is faithful
And speaks the word of truth
The flag that carries all in honour
Many called the chosen few
There’s hope within us ever springing
Each new season once to bring
The prize denied but not forgotten
The measure of our nightly dreams

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 From the Anny Road to Walton Breck
From The Kemmy’s view of heaven
Not earth are these foundations laid but
Men’s hearts are built upon
The girders will all rust away
The bricks and stones fall down
But the spirit lives forever more
For this is hallowed ground

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Shankly’s knights a redman’s reason
The love nurtured for his team
To follow another no less than treason
Finds strength in his belief
Bob Paisley found his chosen sons
And there a legend born
3 times he snapped the rusted chains
Of European scorn

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The tears the joys the fading fires
The glories in their name
The best of times the worst of times
In every football game
This fickle mistress binds us tight
And none can tame her ways
Each man will preach for free her gospels
Each man a willing slave

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The day will brings its worries enough
Its troubles test our might
But upon the fields of football dreams
We choose to see the light
The burning boots of everyman
His shirt his badge his faith
Remember this the choice is his
Let no man take away.
