Because They’re Not Worth It ?

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 it was one of those days when you had to keep up
as the mother of auctions took place
when another new ‘towel’ just appeared on the beach
and the big boys had egg on their face
there were tears all day long from Robinho
there were agents on mobiles in trees
as the hype and the crying sent transfer fees flying
and the losers just fell to their knees

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 up in Manchester Berbatov stuck to his guns
as the Sky Blues and Reds banged on doors
there were medicals done – so we’re led to believe
there was Sparkie on some wet golf course
there was José who nabbed up Quaresma
while Everton struck from the blue
and we all shed a tear (!) when the big news appeared
as the Barton swap-deal just fell through

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 it was one of those nights when you flicked from the web
to the latest updates on Five Live
and the vibe and the power approaching that hour
was for some pretty hard to survive
so it’s Spurs and it’s Man U and City
who have all been the latest to fall
in the greatest inflation that’s hitting our nation
for people who just kick a ball

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 my nan used to tell me (like certain hair ads)
“believe in yourself – ’cause you’re worth it!”
but lately it feels like you pay what you like
whether or not they deserve it
yes it’s ‘oh my god’ time and it’s “what are they like?”
and I’m thankful I’m stuck here in Stroud
with our own little team – yes I said Forest Green
’cause they’re top of the league…. “laugh out loud!”

Notes

still a nice feeling ..with Forest Green top of the Conference Premier…and that other poor little out-bid club of my youth from London top of the Premier League .oh well, the next transfer deadline should be a ‘lol ‘moment too..whatever..
