Belgie v America

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 To the land of opportunity
Apple pie and Coco cola
Went a blue eyed blonde from Germany
Well versed in falling over.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He’s a gaffer now of a soccer team
We’ve taken to our hearts
Living the American dream
Of success from a humble start.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Last evening during a World Cup tie
Against a promising Belgie team
We watched da side of da wunder guy:
Play with an incredible self belief.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Belgie really struggled
To break America down
an often were out muscled
As their opponents wore them out.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The art called positive thinking
We ridicule on occasion
Seems to me to be the link
For the American transformation.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 This approach is really refreshing
Nowadays rarely seen or used
They play with the confidence that ignorance brings
So they’re not afraid to lose.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Yeah it’s pretty simple way to play
But look what they achieved?
You’ll rarely see them in a game
Where they look like they’ll get beat.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 So the Belgians may have won the game
To rightfully progress through
But they were on occasion outplayed by the USA
Who were simply not afraid to lose.

Notes

Jurgen Klinsmann has done more for soccer in America during this tournament than any over the hill star looking for a final pay day could ever do. His teams never say die attitude in going forward and taking real risks on occasion in the search for victory, was a cool and welcome change from the ultra-cautious norm we fans are used to.

His approach, preparation, thoughts and game plans were also a joy to both watch and hear about during those really in depth right after the match interviews he did for American T.V as well.

Another wonderful game. Can Belgie do it? I’ll hazard a guess and say maybe.

Stay well, be lucky and keep smiling.

Peace.

Kev.
