Billy

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Stands fair
in rain or shine or gale
outside the elland road
and bleeding for me and the Gelland end
and the road that led us to fame …..for a while

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Stand with pride my scottish friend
though small but fierce in stature
and scream and shout and scream again
and does it really matter
a a shrill voice sounds from a mining village

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Oh that you could break this stone and live again
rewrite this page of the overpayed and underplayed
and like a tiger don the shirt
and take the pitch and make it work
and grin in a muse at their decay…and play ..just play and play.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And there sits in elland road
and stands in elland road
and lives in elland road
the spirit of this game
a smile from a statue
with a headstone for his name .

Notes

I watched billy bremner play many times, If only modern players had his spirit . I was moved by the statue at elland road , it seemed to mark an era in the game. Go on Billy and do it in heaven !
