5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Don’t judge a book by the cover.
Don’t judge a bloke by his colour.
Religion, skin, place of origin are merely accidentals,
They are not the thing
In itself (nor are beauty, power, wealth.)
Look at a person’s heart, soul, mind,
If their true worth you seek to find.
Do this, and some day we may see
More black Gaffers in the Football League.

I was inspired to write this after reading the poem by Crispin Thomas entitled Two Black Bosses In The Football League.
