BOB

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I WENT TO A RECENT SIGNING,OF THE DVD
BOUGHT OUT NEW FOR CHRISTMAS-ARSENAL-THE HISTORY.
I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ONE BEFORE, I QUEUED UP IN THE COLD
FOR FOUR HOURS BEFOREHAND, TO MY DAD THIS WOULD BE GOLD
WHEN HE OPENED IT ON CHRISTMAS DAY EXPECTING SOME MORE SOCKS
AND FOUND A SURPRISE PRESENT, HIS HEROES AUTOGRAPHS ON THE BOX.
SOME BIG NAMES WERE AT THIS SIGNING, LEGENDS FROM THE PAST,
CHARLIE GEORGE OF FA CUP GOAL FAME AND SANSOM WHO SURPASSED
EIGHTY CAPS FOR ENGLAND, ALSO DAVIS, NELSON AND NEILL,
COMPLETING THE LINE-UP, BOB WILSON, IT REALLY WAS SURREAL.
WHILE IN THE QUEUE I WAS NERVOUS, AND WHEN STEPPING THROUGH THE DOOR
AND SEEING THESE SIX IDOLS, I WAS IMMEDIATELY STRUCK BY AWE.
SOME OF THEM CARRIED ON CONVERSATIONS AND DIDN’T GIVE ME A GLANCE,
SOME BRAVE FANS WHO TRIED TO TALK SIMPLY WEREN’T GIVEN A CHANCE.
AND WHEN THEY MADE THEIR NERVOUS COMMENTS THEY WERE MET WITH A WINK AND A NUDGE,
AND THEN THERE WAS BOB WILSON WHO MADE SURE THE INK DIDN’T SMUDGE.
AND SMILED POLITELY AND ASKED HOW I WAS AND SINCERELY THANKED ME FOR COMING
AND RECOGNISED THAT IN MY EYES JUST SEEING HIM WAS SOMETHING.
THOUGH HE WASN’T THE DARLING OF THE NORTH BANK AND INTERNATIONAL CAPS WERE SCARCE,
BOB WILSON IS A GENTLEMAN AND IN THIS LIFE THAT IS RARE
