A football shirt was hard to find
The two sports shops in my city
Sold hockey sticks and shin pads
Nothing fancy, nothing ‘designed’

Knitted by your Gran in the wrong shade of green
and the wrong kind of yellow
And it had pockets and a sleeve
Just right for a fashion conscious teen

Those were the days, fervent passion
There was no club shop, no merchandise
No frills or fancies – just fans

It has to be said that City are as likely to score against the above four teams as any other team in the league. Exactly. ‘Bye then.

We are not resigned to relegation but fans are asking if the club is going to issue white flags and brown trousers for the next home game.
