Buzzin’

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Magic of the cup over? No way!
It’s alive and kicking in Swindon
where a full house at the County Ground
were licking their lips in anticipation
at the prospect of a cup upset.
And so it proved:
Wigan’s passing, like their ambition, limited;
their goal threat negligible.
Even their penalty when it came
looked rather lame, tired,
a rebound off the post.
By contrast Town were vibrant;
swinging Swindon soaring into
Wigan’s half to knock the Latics
off their lofty Premiership perch.
Connell’s flick header just desserts
for their endeavour.
So what if it took a Benson
deflection to bamboozle al Habsi?
Who cares as the old ground rocked
to passionate Paolo’s beat.
His tribute to his dad a fitting
end to a wonderful day.
And we can start to believe again.

Notes

Swindon 2 Wigan 1. Premier League opposition seen off on a great day for STFC. Can’t remember scenes like it for many years. ALL my lads were in attendance (yes, including Rhys) & we loved it!
