Celebrating (and ready and waiting!)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0
Oh, knees up Muvver Brown
Knees up Muvver Brown
Knees up, knees up, never let the breeze up,
Knees up Muvver Brown!

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 unfortunately, JT started early
with his literal rendition of
“Knees up Senór Sanchez”
and his resultant early bath
meant everyone saw only one path….
Barca for the final

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Incredibly
Barca passed and passed but couldn’t get past
the final hurdle
the purists wanted the cream of the crop
but Chelsea’s stoic resistance, made those dreams curdle

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 however, the proliferation of cards
and the accumulation of yellow
mean Bayern or Real can confidently bellow … walkover!

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 as well as JT –
Ivanovic talked out of turn
now he can no longer yearn – for a final berth
ditto Cahill, overstretched in a tackle
so doubtful he’ll shackle – anyone in the final
ditto Mereiles, he lunged
and now his place expunged, from the final
ditto Ramires, harshly carded
and though highly regarded, misses the final
ditto David Luiz, who’ll be counting his curls,
waiting for his perm to mend –
yet another who won’t defend, in the final

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 so many heroes
and yet so many will be missing in Munich

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 pity that they won’t get to kick a ball….
meanwhile, my boots are dusted off –
and I’m just waiting for the call !!!!!!

Notes

Unbelievable result !

I’m still in shock!

all joking aside …. it’ll be a ridiculously under strength side in the final, it will probably be a non-contest, unless Real and Bayern kick each other off the park tonight

we’ll potentially have no recognised centre-halves available……
like any true fan, I’m ever-ready!
sweeper was always my best position!

(though the brush was left in the cupboard a long time ago!)

My hero sums it up best ….

“I don’t think I’ve ever been so surprised by a football game in my entire life,” former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin told BBC Radio 5 live.

“I am still not sure that actually happened. Chelsea beat Barcelona on their own home ground, with 10 men and without their centre backs on the field.”

“Of course they rode their luck, but you make your own luck in this game and when you work as hard as Chelsea did tonight you deserve that. Incredible.”

Champions League 2012, semi-final
1st leg
Chelsea 1 Barcelona 0 (Barca should have had 4 goals)

2nd leg
Barcelona 2 Chelsea 2

1st half, Barca 2-0 up and Chelsea down to 10, captain JT sent off, other centre-half Gary Cahill limped off with hamstring injury.
Ivanovic switches to centre-back and Bosingwa fills in there too. Ramires becomes emergency right back.

Then just before half time, Ramires breaks ranks (the first and only time a Chelsea player leaves their alloted station), runs on to a lovely Lampard through ball and scores with the most exquisite of chips, brilliant finish.

2nd half, Chelsea don’t venture more than 10 yards from the edge of our box, they keep all 10 behind the ball, literally circling the wagons.

Drogba speculates with one long shot from inside our half.

Barca pass and pass, but just cannot stretch Chelsea. They only let loose with 3 shots, one blocked easily, the other two bringing fine saves from Cech.

Incredibly, Messi misses a penalty, planting it against the crossbar (he’s never scored against Chelsea, in 8 games!)

A goal is chalked off for offside (correctly so, the referee Gods smiling on us tonight)

Then in the last second, ball breaks from a Barca corner, Torres is totally on his own, rounds Valdez and slots home – pandemonium! 🙂
