Cheers Steve “Big Bamber” Heighway

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Shankly’s finest he was grand
He fleeced ’em down the wings
He took the ball and waltzed it down
Our poet prince and king
Shanks he played with such a prince
Tom Finnney was his name
And when he saw the Heighway lad
He knew he’d found the same
The teams were built with passion pride
Scouse Scots and Irish steel
A football university
We’ve two Bambers on the field
So now the time has come to part
No tears but oh the dreams
Of noble service we were blessed
By Europe’s finest Kings
King Kenny played oh he could play
With Heighway on the wing
Whilst Paisley watched from ‘neath his cap
A Poet Prince and King.

Notes

“All round the Fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play
(and he could play)
We had Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
Of the glory round the Fields of Anfield Road”
