Christmas Eve at Celtic

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Santa he climbed down the stands at Parkhead
It was close on midnight and the kids asleep in their beds
Dreaming sweet dreams of the emerald green
Wrapped up in the scarves of their proud Celtic team
Now Santa brought pressies and they were placed on the pitch
He had heard every prayer and had written down every wish
He didn’t bring bikes or the latest computer games
But he brought them the legends whose memories remain
So there stood Jock Stein the most gracious of men
With his beloved Lisbon Lions ready to play again
There was sweet Bobby Murdoch roused by God from his sleep
He said “Come on now son pull your boots on your feet”
Jinky stood smiling and he spread out his wings
Racing on to a pass that could only come from McNeil
Steve Chalmers smiled up at The Jungle once more
And Larsson was brought in to add to the score
The kids with their Dads sang the old Celtic songs
The battle hymns rang out all the night long
For this was the spirit of Christmas that told
Of a gift from St Walfrid wrapped in green white and gold.
